Arctic Summer
July 12

You can't really get any further north on land in the United States than here, Point Barrow, just 1,291 miles from the geographic North Pole.

The old DEW Line station complete with the northernmost totem pole in the world featuring the northernmost toilet on a pole in the world!

The playing field for the Barrow High School Whalers.

Palm trees made from baleen make Heather feel right at home!

Another goal of mine this trip was to join the Polar Bear Club by completely submerging myself in the Arctic Ocean! The water was around 30ºF, but once my legs went numb it wasn't too bad!

Across the street from the hotel was Osaka, a Japanese restaurant.

Heather and I really liked the food there from the sushi to teriyaki to tempura! They even made a great breakfast the next morning!

The sun at 10 PM. Unfortunately it was behind clouds at midnight, but I would capture it later in Prudhoe Bay.
